Many of our general counselors will work all or part of each day in a program area, helping to teach an activity. Here’s an idea of what we’re looking for from our counselors in program areas — and please keep in mind, we employ staff members with many different levels of skill and experience!
Ideal candidates have belay, high/lowrope or rock climbing experience, and an interest in working outdoors. Adventure staff are asked to come to camp early for training and program orientation. We will certify you!
Do you love to work out? Are you enthusiastic about fitness? Applicants should be experienced in sports conditioning, aerobics, yoga, pilates and/or spinning; certification is a plus but not a requirement.
A passion for crafting or experience in candle-making, ceramics, drawing, jewelry making, glass fusion, painting and/or woodworking. Art major is a plus but not necessary. We look for a love of art, creativity and patience.
Candidates must be strong swimmers. We will lifeguard certify! Aquatics staff come to camp early to participate in a Bryn Mawr-sponsored Water Safety Instructor certification course.
Are you passionate about a sport? Athletics staff teach and coach one or more of the following sports: soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, field hockey and archery. Instructors should have significant varsity experience (ideally at the college level, but not required); coaching experience is a plus.
Cooking applicants should have significant experience in the kitchen, specifically in the area of baking. A home economics or food-related major is a plus but not a necessity.
Dance staff must be experienced in and able to teach at least two of the following styles: ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern, tap. Knowledge of choreography and/or experience in a dance or musical theatre company is a strong plus, as is the ability to lead a class on your own.
Applicants should have experience in and good knowledge of the theatre (drama major is a bonus but not a requirement), and ability to assist in at least two of the following areas: set design and construction, costume design and construction, makeup, blocking, musical theatre, vocal performance, light and sound, backstage crew.
Our staff ranges from competitive gymnasts to cheerleaders to collegiate divers with skills and experience in beam, uneven bars, tumbling, vault and/or floor exercise. Experience teaching or coaching at any level is preferred. Bryn Mawr has held the Wayne County junior and senior gymnastics titles for over 30 years!
Our Poplar Post must be proficient with a Macintosh computer and have excellent motivational and organizational skills. Experience on high school or college newspaper is required.
Camp photographers are responsible for coordinating with the website administrator to shoot photos of campers at their daily activities, evening programs, and special events. In addition to being comfortable with a digital camera, photographers will spend a significant amount of time in our web office, uploading and tagging photos. Candidates must have experience with action photography and be comfortable using a digital camera.
Our video team captures the action all summer long, documenting activities, events, and traditions in a living record of the camp season. Videographers should be experienced with shooting and editing action footage and prepared to regularly produce high-quality packages that capture the mood, memories, and spirit of a summer at camp.
Equestrian staff must have experience in hunt seat riding, particularly hunters, jumpers, eventing, dressage, and/or hunt seat equitation. Candidates should have basic horse knowledge and should be able to groom, tack and wrap unsupervised. Knowledge of basic horse first aid is helpful.
Tennis is one of our most popular programs, and a high level of instruction is expected. Applicants should have significant experience playing competitive tennis. Teaching/coaching experience is a plus.
Waterski instructors must have experience waterskiing and boat driving. We will lifeguard certify! A boat license and some knowledge of maintenance are preferable. Applicants should be comfortable handling a 15′ SeaCraft with 60 HP Mercury motor.
Bryn Mawr is happy to act as a paid internship for programs such as education, social work, outdoor education, family studies, sociology, psychology, sports management or exercise science. We have extensive experience working with colleges and universities to either fit the criteria already in place for an internship or help design a unique program.
